“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

Romans 12:9-10

  • In keeping with Archdiocesan policy, Loyola does not permit the use of “Unity Candles” and other wedding-industry add-ons or paraphernalia during the wedding ceremony. These add nothing to the rite and usually serve only to distract from it. As well, they may duplicate or echo (often poorly) symbols already present in the official ritual.
  • Respectfully, the church is not the place for receiving lines.
  • Brady Hall (the parish hall) is not available for wedding receptions or rehearsal dinners.
  • Please ensure that guests and members of the wedding party behave in a manner appropriate to a Catholic church.
    • Whatever your tradition or beliefs, you are welcome here.
    • As God’s house, Loyola church is a sacred place and a place of worship. Please respect our customs and traditions.
    • No one aside from the members of the wedding party may enter the sanctuary (the raised part of the church to the west).
    • Please, no food or drink at the rehearsal (aside from water) and absolutely no food or drink during the wedding.
    • Children are the responsibility of the adults with them. They should be under direct adult supervision throughout. They should refrain from running or playing in the church.
    • Please monitor your words and language. Offensive, suggestive, obscene or hurtful language is utterly inappropriate. Please do not shout or speak loudly.
    • Chewing gum is not permitted in the church building.
    • Outside alcohol is never permitted.
    • Illicit drugs are not permitted.
    • Tobacco products of any kind, including vaping devices, are never permitted.
    • Weapons of any kind, including firearms (including those obtained and carried legally) are not permitted.

Please keep in mind the solemnity and dignity of your wedding ceremony.

  • Even though current fashions can be very revealing, there are many choices that can be made for the bridal gown and bridesmaids’ dresses.  If the top is very bare, you should consider wearing a small jacket or a shawl (quite often an option for the bridesmaids’ dresses).
  • Gentlemen and male children over the age of seven are asked to refrain from wearing short pants.
  • Women and girls are asked to refrain from wearing pants and skirts that do not cover the upper two-thirds of the thighs.
  • Men and boys should remove hats and caps.
