Join Us for Healthy Communal "Slow Meals" & Fellowship!
What makes a meal healthy? We focus on the food itself, but what about the context in which you eat it? Are you rushed or at leisure? Are you alone or with others? Are you eating on the run or seated at a table? Are you simply eating, or breaking bread as an act of fellowship? Thankfully, Jesus and his disciples gave us an example of not only a spiritually meaningful dinner, but a healthy one!
The Loyola Wellness Ministry has launched a quarterly "slow meal" tradition. What is a "slow meal?" One that provides an environment for your body to enjoy and digest food as it was designed to: at ease.
You can find the evening prayer and some of the recipes from our August meal here.
Given the high price of groceries and the challenge of finding cost-effective, healthy recipes, we would like guests to bring a dish of their choice along with the recipe. What counts as a "healthy" or "cheap" dish? Whatever either of those two terms mean to you. Your fellow guests will be blessed and appreciate sharing your food, your recipe, and your company. Store-bought items are welcome, as well! Please also join us if you do not have a dish or recipe to share. We will have plenty to go around. The theme for is "Fall Harvest." A vegan main dish will be provided.
Please include all ingredients in your recipe, especially meat, dairy, and common allergens, e.g. nuts, for guests with dietary preferences and restrictions. Guests will be encouraged to take photos of the recipes they would like to try themselves. For more information email [email protected]
