Loyola Historical Committee

The Loyola Historical Committee provides a means of weaving together many threads of historical study within the parish. To that end, the committee strives to:

• Draw attention to and document the cultural and racial diversity of the parish in the past and reinvigorate its commitment to diversity in the present.
• To provide an ever-expanding picture of who comprised the Loyola community in the past in order to promote a deeper sense of belonging and inclusiveness in the present. 
• To gather, preserve, and organize the primary sources for Loyola’s history, including documents, photos, audio and visual recordings, press materials, and personal testimnials, interviews, and artifacts.  
• Through the digitization of sources and creation of a parish archive, available for parishioners or the public to access for their own projects or interests. 
• To organize and maintain an active oral history of the Loyola parish community and prioritize interviews with parish elders.
• To record and document parish events of historical significance.
• To create and maintain a public education program, including presentations, exhibits, and publications, to inform the parish and broader Denver community about Loyola’s history.
• To support events and projects organized to mark the centenary anniversary of the completion of the church in 2024, and future anniversary celebrations, and prepare publications on parish and building history when needed.
• To work with organizations and individuals outside of the parish, including the Archdiocese of Denver archive, the State Historical Preservation Office, and others to collect historical sources, produce historical narratives, and preserve the church building and other physical records.
