Computer robots, masking as priests of the Archdiocese have begun to solicit money via texts or e-mail. Recently several priests in the Archdiocese of Denver have had their names associated with these requests. Their newest technique? iTunes gift cards. Other payment methods that scammers request include Amazon gift cds, PayPal, reloadable cards like MoneyPak, Reloadit, or through monetary services like Western Union or MoneyGram. Recently, an email address that appeared to come from a priest in the Archdiocese asked recipients to purchase $1,000 worth of iTunes gift cards, take a picture with the scratch code exposed, and then text it to him. Please make sure you carefully review any email that asks for money and don’t hesitate to call us if you have any questions. Please confirm all e-mail addresses or text messages if you notice a solicitation for money. Do not respond to them!
Neither Fr. Dirk, nor any employee from St. Ignatius Loyola, will ever make such a solicitation.
