Welcome to Loyola Denver!
Thank you for visiting our website! Whether you are a parishioner, regular visitor, or someone surfing websites looking for a parish where you will be welcomed and valued, I invite you to explore our website. More importantly, I invite you to join us for a weekend liturgy or extra-liturgical event. We welcome active or inactive Catholics, practitioners of other faiths or no faith, those struggling with church teachings and those at home in her doctrines, those firmly grounded in their spiritual life and those seeking a spirituality grounded in lived experience, and those who have found God present and those wondering if God might be found here. As St. Paul reminds us, there are no unnecessary or throw away members of the Body of Christ; all are needed and essential to form and maintain a healthy, vital Body.
St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Parish, Colorado’s only Jesuit Parish, is located at the western border of Denver’s iconic City Park. With Denver’s Zoo and Museum of Nature and Science adjacent to City Park, this area is a central district in metro-Denver for diverse recreational, cultural and entertainment activities and events.
The parish church, highlighted by its twin towers, is the focal point of Loyola Square, the city block so designated by the Denver City Council on July 7, 2003. This honor was awarded in recognition of the Jesuits’ outstanding contributions and years of service to the people of Denver. We celebrated our 90th anniversary on October 12, 2014. In its Proclamation creating Loyola Square, the Denver City Council recognized St. Ignatius Loyola Church as an important historical asset and city landmark. Our church was entered into the State Register of Historical Properties on November 9, 1994 and into the National Register of Historic Places on December 23, 1994.
